NEC LCD Technologies and NEC Electronics America introduced a new system-on-glass (SOG) technology that enables LCD modules to be designed with more varied and flexible shapes, and allows for optimal distribution of gate and data drivers on the LCD substrate and minimizes overlaps in the gate and source driver circuitry for LCD modules that are non-rectangular in shape
The combination of NEC's VIT technology and the new SOG technology results in a more streamlined interconnection scheme and lower power consumption
The low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS), color, heart-shaped prototype design features a display width of 4.0 cm, a height of 3.6 cm and a 174 micrometer pixel pitch (146 pixels per inch).
