FLIR's (Wilsonville, Ore.) Tau 640 is the new 640 × 480 resolution member of its popular Tau family of uncooled longwave camera cores. Still the smallest, lightest, lowest-power uncooled longwave thermal camera cores in their class, Tau 640 delivers outstanding thermal imagery with its 17-micron pixel size and innovative Digital Detail Enhancement image processing algorithms. Tau 640 is the perfect imaging core for a variety of small, unmanned aerial and ground vehicles, as well as unattended ground sensor systems, helmet-mounted vision systems, handheld firefighting imagers, thermal weapon sights, security and surveillance systems, and many other applications. Tau is not just a single imager, but a family of cameras consisting of multiple resolution options, a variety of camera configurations, and several available lens options, enabling the Tau family to meet the needs of this wide variety of end uses. Like its 320 and 160 resolution counterparts, FLIR intends to offer Tau 640 with delivery times of less than one week, and typically within two working days for small-volume camera orders. FLIR's free Camera Controller software lets users have convenient control over most Tau camera functions. FLIR also offers an optional Tau SDK, along with a variety of Tau hardware accessories for maximum integration flexibility. www.flir.com
